DREADCENTRAL.COM – Regular readers of Robert Kirkman’s comics on which “The Walking Dead” is based are well acquainted with the character of Paul Monroe, aka Jesus, and now TV viewers will get to know him soon as well. Per THR, Tom Payne (DxM, “Luck”) has been cast in the role.
He will recur in the upcoming sixth season — with an option for Season 7.
The character was first introduced in Issue 91 of the comics. He is a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone who moved to the community from another group called the Hilltop Colony. The character is “a rare logical man and skilled adviser with a strong sense of morals and values who is well-adapted to the new world.”
Jesus, who is [SPOILER!] still alive in the comics, becomes a key member of the group in the comics ahead of the war against The Savors and major villain Negan.
Will we see Negan too? Only time will tell! In the meantime, we have Episode 6.01, “First Time Again,” to look forward to when the series resumes on October 11th.
